Infinix is on a roll! The smartphone brand has just celebrated its fifth consecutive quarter of growth, boasting an impressive 18.8% year-over-year increase in global smartphone shipments for Q2 2024, as reported by IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker.
This achievement not only solidifies Infinix’s standing as a key player in the global market but also secures its third-place position in Uganda’s competitive smartphone arena.
Tony Zhao, General Manager of Infinix, attributes this success to the company’s “relentless pursuit of innovation and a deep understanding of consumer needs.” He further emphasized that Infinix is committed to empowering youth through technological advancements and meaningful engagement.
Zhao stated, “Infinix’s exceptional performance in Q2 2024 underscores our relentless pursuit of innovation and our deep understanding of consumer needs globally.”
Global growth
Infinix’s growth isn’t limited to Uganda; it has made significant strides across various global markets.
The brand has secured top-five market share positions in over 20 key regions, including the Philippines and Pakistan, where it holds the No. 1 spot. Notably, countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Algeria, and Saudi Arabia have reported staggering year-over-year shipment increases ranging from 50% to an astounding 469% in Q2 2024.
In Uganda specifically, Infinix continues to thrive, maintaining its third-place market position thanks to targeted marketing campaigns and innovative product launches aimed at young consumers.
A major highlight for the Ugandan market is the upcoming launch of the HOT50 Series during the Elgon Half Marathon on November 2, 2024, in Mbale City. This event, in collaboration with the Joshua Cheptegei Development Foundation (JOCDEF), aims to bridge the digital divide among Uganda’s youth by providing schools with essential digital tools.
Bridging the digital divide
As part of this initiative, Infinix will sponsor a 10km run, offering exciting electronic prizes like laptops, earbuds, and smartwatches for winners of both the 21km and 10km races. This effort aligns with Infinix’s mission to raise awareness about the digital gap and underscores the vital role technology plays in education today.
Additionally, Infinix is partnering with JOCDEF to provide digital tools to schools, starting with Joshua Cheptegei Primary School. The company plans to donate laptops from its Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) family, designed to give students and educators access to cutting-edge digital platforms.
Pioneering technological advancements
Infinix isn’t just about smartphones; it’s also focused on delivering advanced technology at accessible price points. The NOTE 40 series, developed in collaboration with BMW Group Designworks, offers a premium experience without breaking the bank.
Furthermore, the GT 20 Pro gaming smartphone stands out as a first in its price segment with a dedicated gaming display chip—an innovation that has propelled Infinix into partnerships with major esports events.
The brand’s commitment extends beyond hardware; through collaborations with organizations like UNESCO and Google, Infinix has been actively involved in AI and robotics education via its CogLabs workshops, providing teenagers with valuable tech learning experiences.
