There are quite a number things you would love your phone to have, regardless of the price tag attached, or the manufacturer. One thing about the Infinix Hot 7 is that it carries much of what the global flagships possess, with so little to lose about having it.
A 6.2 inch screen – one you’d probably find on Notes and phablets elsewhere – with a notch at the top, a dual camera setup at the back, a 4000mAh battery, fine OS skin, and amazing hardware; there is a lot to name of it.
The Hot 7 is a model device for mid range smartphones, with flagship specifications, at entry-level pricing.

Impressive Performance
When you compare it to last year’s Hot 6, the difference is visible especially in terms of performance and features.
The 6 comes with XOS 3.3 Hummingbird on top of the Go Edition of Android Oreo, 16 GB of internal storage running on 1GB/2GB of RAM depending on your interest. The 7 has a much newer XOS 4.1, on top of Oreo 8.1, with a close to similar 16/32 GB storage and 1/2 GB RAM.
If you are to compare the two’s performance, it is obvious that you’ll fall for the Hot 7 given its much more customizable skin, and the smoothness it comes with.
XOS Honeybee
The Infinix Hot 7 comes with the new XOS Honeybee v4.1.0, running with Android 8.1.0. It gives you a smooth flow when using the phone, with added features such as beautiful icon designs, Fingerprint Call Recording as well as Quick App Launch.
If you have used any of the previous XOS skins, you’ll note that the fourth version allows for expanded view of content, to fit in the notch display of the Hot 7. You can basically switch to the normal display and back to the notch when you wish.
Camera
What is an Infinix phone without talking about its camera? The Hot 7’s dual camera setup on the rear is a great addition to the mid-range device and it gives it the premium look that not so many devices have.
The 13 MP + 8 MP pair does some good work both in the light and in the dark, with assistance from the dual flash light. It is an average sensor, if you may ask for a rating compared to other phones, but is powerful enough to give you smart photography.
The front 8 MP selfie camera is good enough to take even passport-size images for corporate use. It can classify between your presence and the background and give the best image out of it.
Observations
The Hot 7 is generally a smart, fast, and durable phone. With a battery that takes a day or even more to run down, it is a good choice if you want to buy for a relative upcountry a gift in a smartphone.
Despite its midrange status, the first sight on it is a very tempting one – and you can easily be coerced into spending the dollars to get a copy of it.
Price
You can get the Infinix Hot 7 at UGX 439,000 from Infinix Mobile outlets countrywide. Compared to other phones in the same price bracket, the Hot 7 is rather bigger in display size and a lot more beautiful in terms of specifications.
For instance the Tecno Pouvoir 2, Tecno Spark 2, Infinix Smart 2, and the Tecno Camon CM all fall in the same price bracket as the Hot 7 but have a less wide display and have a few specs less of the Hot device.
However, a number of devices with almost the same price tag as the Hot 7 have 4G connectivity, something that Infinix does not consider for this new smartphone. Nonetheless, the Internet speeds are still good enough for you to load the techjaja site in 30 seconds.
Verdict
If you are looking for a phone that will make it easy for you to do all you want, with a premium feel attached, get yourself the Infinix Hot 7. Like already mentioned, it is the model device for mid range smartphones.
Pros: Swift XOS Honeybee, long lasting 4000mAh battery, beautiful XThemes, extended display with the notch, Premium look
Cons: No 4G network connectivity, Breakable plastic back cover.
