itel P55T first impressions: A Powerful Titan

Good things often occur randomly and unpredictably, they often say. But the new itel P55T beats all odds. From the farthest point you knew the manufacturer as a maker of entry-level affordable smartphones with the lowest of specifications, it has outgrown this level.

Released under the Power Series (P is for Power), the itel P55T makes a grand entrance, clad in a sophisticated attire. This budget-friendly device promises more than just a sleek look on the outside, redefining the expectations associated with affordable smartphones.

Upon tearing through the packaging, the P55T immediately captures attention with its slick design and modern edge packaging. Underneath this lies a clear TPU case, an 18W charger, a USB-C cable, and unexpectedly decent earphones. Not to forget the convenience of the included SIM ejector tool.

Right from the display, the 90Hz refresh rate takes center stage, providing a visual feast that challenges the expectations set by its price tag. Although not AMOLED, the IPS LCD display holds its ground, delivering sharp text and vibrant colors.

The camera setup, a 50MP main sensor paired with a secondary depth sensor, surprises users with its performance in good lighting conditions. Contrary to initial skepticism, photos showcase impressive detail and color accuracy.

The front-facing 8MP selfie camera proves to be a reliable companion for video calls and social media updates, with subtle beauty filters earning extra points.

    Balancing affordability with functionality

The absence of bloatware ensures a clean and efficient user interface, providing a hassle-free experience.

The inclusion of Android 14 (Go Edition) not only contributes to the device’s performance but also showcases itel’s commitment to offering the latest software even in budget-friendly models.

The Unisoc T606 processor, though not a gaming powerhouse, ensures seamless day-to-day operations. The real hero, however, is the colossal 6000mAh battery, addressing a common woe among smartphone users – the constant need for charging.

We’ll definitely share more of what we love about this device as we study it harder in the subsequent reviews that we shall do of it.
