How to send WhatsApp View Once voice messages

WhatsApp View Once voice messages

In case you missed it, WhatsApp has unveiled an expansion to its View Once feature. Initially introduced in 2021 for photos and videos, this feature has now been extended to include voice messages.

WhatsApp users can now send voice messages that automatically disappear after being listened to; offering a secure channel for sharing confidential information such as credit card details or surprise plans. Similar to View Once photos and videos, these voice messages are distinctly labeled with a “one-time” icon and can only be played once.

The rationale behind this innovation is to empower users to communicate sensitive information with added peace of mind. Whether it’s verbally sharing confidential details or planning surprises, View Once voice messages ensure that the information is only accessible to the recipient for a single playback.

WhatsApp emphasizes that, like all personal messages, these voice messages are safeguarded with end-to-end encryption by default, exemplifying the platform’s ongoing commitment to privacy innovation.

According to WhatsApp’s official statement, the introduction of View Once voice messages aligns with the company’s dedication to enhancing user privacy. The statement highlights scenarios where this feature can be particularly beneficial, such as reading out credit card details or coordinating surprises.

How to send WhatsApp View Once Voice Messages

To send a View Once voice message, users must select the option each time they want to share sensitive information. Once sent, the voice message, along with View Once photos and videos, cannot be viewed again.

Recipients who wish to confirm if a voice message has been opened must have read receipts turned on. WhatsApp assures users that the shared media won’t be saved to the recipient’s Photos or Gallery, and no screenshots can be taken.

WhatsApp emphasizes the importance of sending View Once content only to trusted individuals, acknowledging that there are alternative ways for recipients to save the media before it disappears. The encrypted media may be stored on WhatsApp’s servers for a few weeks, and any reported content will be provided to WhatsApp.

Receiving View Once Voice Messages

Recipients of View Once voice messages must open them within 14 days, after which they will expire. Forwarding, saving, starring, or sharing such media is not possible, ensuring that the privacy of the shared content is maintained.

The backup feature allows users to restore media and voice messages if unopened at the time of backup, though once opened, they cannot be restored. WhatsApp also restricts the ability to take screenshots of View Once media received.
