MTN Uganda has finally launched eSIM (Embedded SIM) technology. This comes six months after Airtel Uganda launched the service on their network.
The eSIM, short for Embedded SIM, is a revolutionary virtual SIM card that empowers users to seamlessly connect to their mobile service provider without the need for a physical SIM card. This digital marvel is remotely programmed via software and is seamlessly integrated into the latest generation of smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and even vehicles. With MTN Uganda’s eSIM technology, customers can enjoy a host of benefits that transform the way they stay connected and manage their mobile plans.
Somdev Sen, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Uganda, shared his enthusiasm for this groundbreaking offering, stating, “At MTN Uganda, we are committed to driving Africa’s progress through cutting-edge digital solutions. Our latest e-Sim technology, an integral part of our Ambition 2025 strategy, exemplifies this commitment by providing our valued customers with an advanced and hassle-free way to experience the benefits of a modern connected life.”
He further emphasized, “The eSIM eliminates the need for physical SIM cards and opens up a world of possibilities, allowing users to effortlessly switch carriers, add plans, and manage multiple phone numbers on a single device. It’s a game-changer that enhances convenience, security, and overall connectivity.”
The advantages of MTN Uganda’s e-Sim technology are abundant as its SIMless technology offers enhanced flexibility, enables remote programming as well and easing international travel.
eSIM enables changing networks easily
Users can easily switch mobile networks from MTN to Airtel and vice versa, add new numbers, and even connect to different networks, giving them ultimate control over their mobile experience. The ability to remotely program e-Sims offers unparalleled convenience, enabling users to manage their mobile plans with ease.
Travelers will no longer need to purchase physical SIM cards when venturing abroad. With MTN Uganda’s Simless technology, adding an international plan is as simple as a few taps, providing hassle-free flexibility and connectivity from the moment they arrive in another country.
While the benefits of eSim technology are undeniable, it’s important to note that not all devices and carriers currently support eSim. However, as more and more devices and carriers adopt this cutting-edge technology, it is expected to become the standard for global cellular connectivity.
To experience the future of mobile connectivity, MTN Uganda invites customers with eligible devices to visit any MTN Service Center with their valid National ID and upgrade to the e-Sim technology. MTN, the Unstoppable Network, is committed to leading the way in providing customers with innovative solutions for a connected world.
