MTN Uganda has announced a significant leadership change as Mr. Somdev Sen, the Chief Marketing Officer, prepares to conclude his tenure on October 11, 2024. After seven years at the helm of MTN Uganda’s marketing strategies, Mr. Sen will transition to a new role as Chief Digital and Commercial Officer at MTN Rwanda, effective October 14, 2024.
During his time at MTN Uganda, Mr. Sen has been a driving force behind remarkable growth and innovation. His leadership has not only doubled the company’s customer base over the past six years but has also spearheaded numerous successful marketing campaigns that have resonated deeply with Ugandan consumers.
Campaigns such as “Uganda is Home,” “MTN Senkyu,” “MoMo Nyabo,” and “Wesotinge (Osmosis)” have become iconic, showcasing the brand’s commitment to engaging its audience meaningfully.
In a heartfelt statement, Ms. Sylvia Mulinge, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Uganda, praised Mr. Sen’s contributions: “Somdev’s contributions have driven our growth and inspired our team. His passion and dedication have left a lasting impact on MTN Uganda. As he moves on to new opportunities, we are proud of all he has accomplished and confident he will continue to achieve great things. We wish him every success in his next chapter.”
Reflecting on his journey at MTN Uganda, Mr. Sen expressed gratitude for the experiences he gained in various leadership roles—ranging from General Manager of Customer Value Management to General Manager of Business Intelligence before becoming CMO.
“I am extremely honored to have served MTN Uganda in three distinct roles. I am grateful for the amazing team at MTN and the wonderful people of Uganda whom I have had the great pleasure of working with,” he stated, adding that, “As I move on to my new role, I am confident that you shall keep being unstoppable.”
