Sooma Mukyala Fouziya, the Public Relations manager of Huawei, articulated the vision behind the initiative during its recent launch. She stated the commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that businesses of varying sizes and maturity levels can benefit from the programme.

This inclusivity extends beyond mere provision of services; as it has in it a pledge to support SMEs comprehensively, including addressing concerns such as data security breaches, with local offices for redress. Huawei’s tangible presence in Uganda signifies a profound commitment to the success of local businesses.

The endorsement of the programme by government officials further solidifies its significance.

Rukia Nakadama, the third deputy prime minister, hailed Huawei’s initiative as a catalyst for realizing the digital transformation outlined in Vision 2040. Emphasizing the pivotal role of digital technologies in job creation and economic growth, she stressed the importance of continuous efforts to advance Uganda’s digital agenda.

This sentiment was echoed by State Minister for Trade, Fred Gume, who urged entrepreneurs to embrace digitalization as a means to drive economic development, reduce operational costs, and access global markets.

The Huawei Cloud Programme represents more than just a technological advancement; it is a paradigm shift in the way SMEs operate and thrive in today’s interconnected world.

By providing affordable cloud computing services, Huawei empowers startups and SMEs to innovate and compete on a global scale. This was echoed by Huawei Uganda’s Managing Director, Sunrise Xie, who highlighted the programme as a milestone in Uganda’s digital transformation journey.
