Running 5G on the Tecno Phantom V Flip
The true star of the show is the 5G connectivity. The Phantom V Flip is a 5G beast, supporting a wide range of bands, including n1, n3, and n5. These are essential for supporting increased data traffic as well as providing extensive coverage and penetrating indoor and rural areas effectively.
To get a clear understanding of the experience, we used an MTN Uganda SIM in the device to get a feel of the speeds and connectivity. The promise here is that 5G provides significantly faster data speeds, lower latency, and improved capacity to connect numerous devices simultaneously, which sets it apart from the previous 4G technology.
Firstly, it’s essential to note that 5G coverage is still currently limited to specific areas within Kampala, so being within these coverage zones is crucial to access the 5G network. Obviously the expansion is going on progressively but, to fully embrace 5G, you’ll need to ensure you are in the best zone.
Additionally, you may need a specific SIM card for 5G access, so it’s advisable to ensure that you have an upgraded SIM — to at least 4G connectivity.
Other factors kept constant, keep your phone and device software updated to the latest versions for optimal performance; and monitor your data usage to ensure you stay within your plan limits.
This review is still ongoing. But, in our experience, the 5G speeds were phenomenal, reaching up to 1Gbps download and 200Mbps upload in ideal conditions. You’ll need some ample internet juice to fully experience the network, because the faster speeds also translate into faster drainage of the bundle you load.
