How to order an Uber by call, even without the app

Uber is continuously striving to make transportation more accessible and user-friendly for everyone. In an announcement at their annual Go-GET event, the company unveiled a new ride-hailing option that caters to individuals who are less familiar with smartphone navigation.

By dialing the toll-free number, 1-833-USE-UBER (1-833-873-8237), customers can now connect with an agent to request an on-demand ride or reserve one for a future trip, all without the need for a smartphone app.

Although Uber had previously piloted phone-based ride-hailing in select regions, it temporarily paused the service during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, now it is back and more widely available. When customers call the designated number, they will be connected with an agent who can assist them in English or Spanish.

Existing Uber account holders can link their account and use their preferred payment method, while those without an account can pay by credit card over the phone, with the agent creating an account for them.

How to order an Uber by call

The process of booking a ride via phone is straightforward. Customers simply call Uber and speak with a team member, who will confirm the ride details. Once confirmed, Uber sends important ride information via text message, including the driver’s name, picture, license plate number, and estimated time of arrival.

Additionally, customers receive another text message when the driver arrives at their pickup location, ensuring a seamless and convenient experience.

While booking an Uber through the phone does not offer a direct option for tipping, riders can still choose to provide cash tips to the drivers if they wish. This serves as an important consideration for passengers who appreciate the opportunity to show their appreciation for excellent service.
