Uber has unveiled its latest offering for its Nairobi, Kenyan market: Uber Comfort. This premium tier service promises riders a more personalized and luxurious journey, elevating the ride-hailing experience to new heights.
But what exactly does this Comfort option entail, and how does it set itself apart from the existing options?
What is Uber Comfort?
At its core, Uber Comfort is designed to enhance every aspect of your ride. Here’s what you can expect when you choose to go Comfort-able for your next trip.
Modern and spacious cars: Gone are the days of cramped back seats. With Comfort, riders can indulge in newer, modern, and larger vehicles, providing ample legroom and headroom for a truly comfortable journey from start to finish.
Rider preferences: One of the standout features of Uber Comfort is the ability for riders to customize their experience. Before your ride even begins, you have the option to set your preferred cabin temperature. Additionally, you can choose your desired level of conversation with the driver, whether it’s no preference, happy to chat, or preferring a quiet ride.
Extended wait-time: Say goodbye to the stress of watching the clock. The Comfort tier offers an extended wait time, giving you 7 minutes instead of the usual 5 for your driver to arrive. This extra flexibility ensures a smoother and more relaxed experience, especially during busy times.
Additional safety features: Safety is always a top priority with Uber, and Uber Comfort is no exception. All the safety features available on other Uber tiers, such as GPS tracking, trip insurance, and emergency assistance, are also included in Uber Comfort rides.
Driver incentives: It’s not just riders who benefit from being Comfort-able. Drivers on this tier receive higher compensation compared to other levels, making it a win-win for both passengers and those behind the wheel.
Uber Comfort pricing and availability
While the Comfort tier does come with added perks, it is priced slightly higher than the standard UberX service, typically around 15-20% more. This premium reflects the upgraded experience and added conveniences that come with choosing Uber Comfort.
Currently, Uber Comfort is available in Nairobi, Kenya, and is gradually rolling out in other African countries including South Africa, Ivory Coast, and Ghana. This expansion aims to bring the luxury and comfort of Uber’s premium service to even more riders across the continent.
Imran Manji, Head of East Africa at Uber, shares his thoughts on the launch of the new tier, stating, “With Uber Comfort, we’re providing riders with a modern, spacious, and customizable way to get around Nairobi, while also creating more earning opportunities for drivers.”
