    50 Gbps: Qatar’s Ooredoo unveils Lightning-Fast Internet

In an incredible breakthrough, Ooredoo, an internet provider in Qatar, is revolutionizing home broadband with the world’s first 50Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) service. This game-changing advancement in internet technology sets Ooredoo apart, offering speeds that go beyond the conventional 1Gbps packages available in the market.

Since 2011, Qatar has been at the forefront of deploying a large-scale FTTP network, and the results are truly remarkable. The country now boasts an extensive and mature fibre network, with an impressive 97.8% fibre penetration rate. This places Qatar among the top 22 countries globally, surpassing the 50% threshold for fibre connectivity.

Ooredoo’s customers already enjoy a range of package speeds, from 1Gbps to 10Gbps. With the introduction of the Fibre to Every Room (FTER) product, which ensures optical fibre ports in every room, the offerings have become even more enriching. However, Ooredoo is not stopping there. By adopting the cutting-edge 50G-PON standard, they are taking their services to new heights, providing an unparalleled 50Gbps package for homes, a significant upgrade from the previously used 10G-PON.

Sheikh Ali Bin Jabor Al Thani, the CEO of Ooredoo Qatar, expressed his pride in being the pioneer of this transformative technology. He emphasized Ooredoo’s commitment to collaborating with global technology leaders, which has been instrumental in enhancing expertise and customer experience.

Sheikh Ali Bin Jabor Al Thani sees this launch as a prime example of the mutual benefits derived from such partnerships and anticipates even more advancements in technology and offerings in the future.

While the pricing details for this revolutionary package have not been disclosed, it is expected to command a premium, considering the pricing of the current top-tier 10Gbps “Home+ Elite” bundle. Priced at approximately £1,440 (UGX 6,680,270) per month, this package includes exciting perks such as three TV boxes, premium TV channels, and fibre connectivity in five rooms.

Although home users may not fully utilize the incredible speed offered by this service, it doesn’t dampen the enthusiasm of ISPs in pursuing and celebrating such technological milestones. Ooredoo’s launch of the 50Gbps FTTP service is not just about bragging rights; it signifies their commitment to pushing the boundaries of broadband performance and enhancing the user experience for customers in Qatar and beyond. Get ready to experience lightning-fast internet like never before!
