Spotify Offline Backup will make listening without internet better

Spotify has introduced a new feature called Offline Backup, designed to enhance the listening experience for users who may find themselves without internet access.

This feature automatically generates a playlist of recently played and queued tracks, ensuring that music lovers can continue enjoying their favourite tunes even when they go offline, such as during flights or outdoor activities.

Key features of Spotify Offline Backup

The Offline Backup feature curates a playlist based on songs that have been recently streamed or queued for listening. This playlist is generated automatically when the app detects that the device is offline, eliminating the need for users to manually select songs in advance.

The playlist adapts over time, learning from the user’s listening habits. It incorporates tracks that have already been cached on the device, ensuring that the music selection remains relevant and personalized to the user’s preferences.

Once offline, the Offline Backup playlist appears in the user’s Home feed within the Spotify app. Users can filter and sort songs by artist, genre, or mood, making it easier to find specific tracks quickly.

If users enjoy the generated playlist, they can save it to their library for easier access in the future. This feature allows for a seamless transition between online and offline listening experiences.

    How to enable Offline Backup

To start using the Offline Backup feature, users need to follow these steps:

    • The Offline Backup feature is available exclusively to Spotify Premium subscribers.
    • You must have listened to at least five songs recently for the feature to activate.
    • Enable Offline Listening:
      • Open the Spotify app.
      • Navigate to Settings.
      • Go to Data Saving or Offline/Storage.
      • Toggle on the Offline Listening option.

Once these steps are completed, the Offline Backup playlist will automatically generate whenever the user goes offline.

    Comparison with previous features

Prior to this update, Spotify allowed users to create offline playlists manually by downloading songs while connected to the internet. This process was often cumbersome and time-consuming, especially for users preparing for travel.

The Offline Backup feature streamlines this process by automating playlist creation based on recent activity, thus saving time and effort.
